Access the Professional Learning Registration System
Enter a Vita
Everyone teaching a course through Prairie Lakes AEA is asked to complete an online Vita through the registration system. New instructors and returning instructors can follow the steps below to enter your vita into the new system. Instructors who are teaching a licensure renewal or graduate credit course must hold a valid teaching license and a Master's Degree with exceptions based on experience in a specialty area. If there are multiple instructors for a course at least one of the instructors must hold a Master's Degree.
- Select Enter Vita in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Select Start Plan → Click on Vita → Click on edit and enter your information.
- Save information.
- Contact Dr. Linda Ankeny to indicate that the vita has been submitted.
New instructors must enter a vita to gain access to the Instructor Center in order to propose a course. Returning instructors will have the Instructor Center tab on the menu bar.
Requesting a Course

Steps to propose a course
- Click on the Instructor Center in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Under Course Approval click on Course Projects.
- Click New, then select instructor-led course →Create Instructor-led Course by completing all fields that are required and any others that are appropriate for your course.
- When completed, select Create Instructor-led Course. (You can save as a draft and return to complete later. Note: there must be text in the required fields to save.)

Setting up a Section
Before a course can be approved the section needs to be created.
Creating a section is completed in two steps.
Step 1 - enter information into all required fields and click Save.
Step 2 - add instructor(s), add all class dates and times
Ignore the other button choices in this step and click Done.
Course Approval Process
Once the course proposal and sections are set up, the course needs to be submitted
Course Naming Conventions
Use the following conventions when proposing a course and section.
Course Title Layout
AEA Abbrev - Course Title Ex: PL - Fierce Conversations
Section Title Layout
Physical location of class Start Month Day Year
Examples:
Pocahontas PLAEA Sept 5 2021
*If class location is in school district, use building name
Examples:
Spencer High Aug 30 2021
Webster City Middle Aug 19 2021
