2022-2023 Trainings 

The 2022-2023 schedule for regional CPI Training has been set. To provide consistency, all Nonviolent Crisis Intervention dates will be on Tuesdays with four scheduled in August and six additional dates offered throughout the year on the third Tuesday of September, October, November, January, February, and March.

Nonverbal Crisis Intervention

CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is a full-day training that is helpful in equipping staff with positive strategies for handling difficult situations.  In this training, participants will learn to organize their thinking about how behavior escalates and respond appropriately, as well as gain practical skills for safely managing and preventing difficult behavior with the focus on prevention.  They will learn proven strategies for safely diffusing anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage to reduce the risk of injury, minimize liability and promote safety, welfare and security.

Training Fees:

$60 - Initial Certification

$30 - Renewal (participants with active certifications or within a 3 month grace period)

Training fees cover the cost of CPI training materials and certification. Districts will be billed following the training.

Verbal Intervention

CPI's Verbal Intervention is a half-day training that prepares staff to take a completely non-physical approach to intervention. This training focuses on de-escalation strategies resulting in safe, non-restrictive interventions. Attendees will learn to recognize the stages of an escalating crisis and evidence-based techniques to de-escalate. De-briefing strategies round out the training so that educators can restore the relationship with their students and strive to prevent a future crisis.

$50 - Initial Certification

$25 - Renewal (participants with active certifications or within a three-month grace period)

Training fees cover the cost of CPI training materials and certification. Districts will be billed following the training.

*Blended Learning

Since CPI does not offer a stand-alone renewal training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Verbal Intervention, we will continue to utilize CPI’s Blended Learning opportunities to differentiate, with initial trainees completing an introductory portion online before joining the full group in person. This has shortened the classroom portion while enhancing discussion and the practice of strategies. Those with current certifications may attend the classroom portion without completing the online training as a “renewal”. 

*In-District Training

Depending on trainer availability, we can accommodate groups of 15-28 with one to two trainers. For groups larger than 28, we may need to schedule additional trainers depending on space and schedules. If you are looking to differentiate a full staff training by offering Verbal Intervention to a large group in the morning and the remaining disengagement and restrictive intervention modules of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention in the afternoon that is an option as well. Coordinating with nearby schools has also worked well for groups smaller than 15 who still prefer an in-district training as opposed to regional dates.
